Microfluidic droplet washing using serial inject and split strategy. Droplets IN contain the buffer to be diluted away (red) from magnetic particles contained within the droplets. Three magnets are placed on either side of wash buffer (light blue) injection channels. Splitting channels remove unwanted buffer from droplets after each injection cycle. The magnets direct the magnetic particles to the upper channel at each splitting junction. Droplets OUT (Collection 1) contain transferred magnetic microparticles exchanged into wash buffer
